Designed & Built For The LMV Common Base Platform

LMV will replace the Land Rover and Pinzgauer in nine variant roles built on a Common Base Platform; GPV, BFA, TMV, UV, EPV, C2V, ESV, TCV and MSV. For that to work, power, data and HUMS need to be shared platform services rather than fitted separately to each vehicle.

GAViN products are vehicle mounted LRUs that take the same 24V platform supply and publish the same GVA topics, scaling by role. A general purpose vehicle can run PDU2000 plus HUMS. An equipment support or utility variant adds INV3000. A troop-carrying or tactical mobility variant adds IPU400 for soldier systems. The architecture stays the same across every role.

Speak to On-systems

PSQ (Procurement Specific Questionnaire) considerations

The LMV PSQ scores suppliers on their technical ability to deliver a digitised, GVA compliant platform. Threshold items are an essential condition covering power, EMC, interconnect and monitoring. Objective items are the additional capabilities positions a Joint Force node ahead of a standard utility truck, that include HUMS visibility, 230V sustainment power and power/data that runs from mounted to dismounted.

On-systems are a UK power partner. Our products are already in production form factor, the ICDs are released and there’s a path to variant specific packs without redesigning the electrical systems of the vehicle.

The On-systems GAViN Range

Each GAViN unit is a sealed, face-mounted LRU with a DEF STAN 23-009 interconnect, 24V vehicle input and a GVA Ethernet/HUMS path. Data sheets for each product are available to download below.

GAViN INV3000 vehicle-mounted 3kW inverter in a finned black housing, with its AC outlet and power switch on the end face

GAViN INV3000

A vehicle-mounted inverter for cabin, workshop, mission-system and sustainment loads. It gives an isolated 50Hz output with GVA/HUMS telemetry over Ethernet.

  • 3000W continuous, 230V at 13A pure sine
  • 18-32V DC input, around 145A at 24V
  • 6000W surge, typical efficiency of 90% or more
  • D38999 or BS 1363 outlets

GAViN IPU400 Intelligent Infantry Power Unit, a sealed cube with four 100W USB-C ports and four Nett Warrior connectors

GAViN IPU400

The Intelligent Infantry Power Unit. It charges and synchronises dismounted soldier systems from the platform’s 24V supply and bridges USB (Universal Serial Bus) to DDS across the mounted-to-dismounted boundary.

  • 400W, four USB-C PD ports and four Nett Warrior connectors
  • 100W regulated at each outlet
  • Four EUDs charged and synced at once
  • Full GVA vehicle data port
  • 200 x 100 x 100mm sealed cube
GAViN HUMS gateway, a compact sealed cube with GVA Ethernet, 24V and CAN connectors on its front face

GAViN HUMS

A CAN-to-DDS Health and Usage Monitoring gateway. It accepts ISO 11898/MilCAN vehicle bus traffic, maps it onto the DEF STAN 23-009 information model and publishes OMG DDS topics for crew stations, mission systems and platform HUMS.

  • Supports CANopen, J1939 and MilCAN
  • Local circular log kept through outages
  • PTP (Precision Time Protocol) aware platform time
  • 0.45kg compact sealed cube

Threshold And Objective Coverage

The table below maps the GAViN suite to the power, interconnect, EMC, HUMS and soldier integration themes scored in the LMV PSQ. Threshold means conditions of participation or a must meet requirement. Objective means a scored differentiator or stretch goal. Question IDs should always be checked against the PSQ Guidance on the Sourcing Portal.

Threshold

Nominal 24V platform electrical system to DEF STAN 61-5 Part 6 Issue 6/7, 18-32V operating window

Every GAViN LRU accepts a conditioned 24V vehicle inlet on a 23-009 or small D38999 circular connector, with an operating range of 18-32V DC. Interlock and sense pins are provided on the power ICDs.

All units
Threshold

GVA interconnect and information model, DEF STAN 23-009

GVA circulars are used on both the power and data faces. Ethernet is published as 1000BASE-T and the HUMS gateway publishes the 23-009 model as OMG DDS topics, so crew, mission and logistics consumers share one bus.

HUMSPDU2000INV3000IPU400
Threshold

EMC for land platforms, DEF STAN 59-411 Land Class A

PDU2000, INV3000 and HUMS are specified to Land Class A. Isolated CAN, galvanic AC isolation and sealed LRU construction all support the platform’s EMC design.

PDU2000INV3000HUMS
Threshold

Protected, supervised 24V distribution to mission systems, sensors, weapons and communications

Six front-face 23-009 outlets, each rated at 10A, for 2000W aggregate. OCP, OVP and OTP are independent per outlet, so a fault on a single outlet is contained and the node stays live for the rest of the platform.

PDU2000
Threshold

Open digital architecture and common data path across the Common Base Platform and nine variants

One Ethernet/DDS path runs from the power products and the CAN gateway. Legacy J1939, MilCAN and CANopen traffic is translated rather than hardwired into each variant’s harness.

HUMS
Objective

Health and Usage Monitoring, DEF STAN 23-009 Part 3 path: hours, load, temperature, faults

HUMS timestamps health, usage, hours and fault state and forwards them to the platform HUMS service, with a local circular store kept through comms outages. INV3000 and PDU2000 report load, temperature, hours and faults over GVA Ethernet.

HUMSINV3000PDU2000
Objective

230V AC for cabin, workshop, mission-system and sustainment loads (ESV/UV/C2/MSV roles)

The unit gives 3000W at 13A, isolated pure sine, 50Hz +/-0.1Hz with THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) below 3%. Two operator face outlets, specified at order as MIL-DTL-38999 or BS 1363. Protected by UVLO, OCP, OVP, OTP and short circuit foldback.

INV3000
Objective

Mounted-to-dismounted soldier power and data (GVA to Generic Soldier Architecture / Nett Warrior)

Four 100W USB-C PD ports plus four Nett Warrior connectors, for EUD charging and vehicle synchronisation. A USB to DDS bridge keeps soldier systems on the information model.

IPU400
Threshold

SWaP-C suitable for a light tactical/utility envelope, with field-replaceable LRUs

Compact sealed cubes and finned LRUs: HUMS at 0.45kg and 110 x 70 x 75mm; IPU400 at 200 x 100 x 100mm; PDU2000 at 62mm high; INV3000 at 4.8kg. Corner hole or face screw mounting, with captive caps.

All units
Objective

UK design, manufacture and sovereign through-life support aligned to the Land Industrial Strategy

Designed and manufactured in Letchworth, Hertfordshire. A common ICD language and released drawings ahead of cable manufacture make On-systems a UK SME partner for primes needing UK workshare.

On-systems Limited

The same backbone across products

GPV, TCV, TMV, EPV

Mobility and troop roles. Start with PDU2000 for protected 24V outlets and HUMS for the digital bus. Add IPU400 where infantry sections mount and dismount with Nett Warrior or EUD loads.

C2V, MSV

Command and mission system roles. PDU2000 plus HUMS give clean distribution and a single DDS view of platform state. INV3000 covers 230V radios, docking and on the move workstations where specified.

UV, ESV, BFA

Utility, equipment support and ambulance roles. INV3000 supplies isolated 230V for tools, medical and workshop loads. PDU2000 keeps mission and vehicle services on supervised 24V rails.
